PEOPLE’S MOVEMENT FOR THE LIBERATION OF ANGOLA M.P.L.A P.O. BOX 20793 TEL. 2292 Dar-es-Salaam WAR COMMUNIQUE EASTERN FRONT (MOXICO): DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL, ALL THE MPLA DETACHMENTS IN THE EASTERN FRONT WERE INTENSIVELY ACTIVE CARRYING OUT HTE WAR AGAINST THE PORTUGESE COLONIALISTS. THE COLONIALISTS ENEMY WAS NOT CONSTANTLY HARASSED WHEREVER HE TURNED, SUFFERING HEAVY LOSSES. ON THE 24th OF APRIL, in the MUTE REGION, in two actions occurring respectively at 5:30 A.M and at 10:00 A.M, 19 (NINETEEN) colonialist troops, including 4 officers were killed by the MPLA guerrillas. In the first of the two actions took place when several enemy soldiers, amalgamated in a group and guided by two traitors, approached an area where a reconnaissance patrol of the MPLA has paused. Immediately after having spotted the enemy, our guerrillas and guard opened fire with his machine gun, killing 3 (THREE) and wounding 6. Successively the MPLA guerrillas took their positions encircling the colonialist soldiers and killing 12 (TWELVE) more and wounding several enemy men. ON THE 30th of APRIL, 1967, at 9:25 A.M., a reconnaissance patrol of the MPLA, operating near the MULAYI River, took by surprise a group of Portuguese soldiers reconstructing the bridge which had been previously destroyed by our guerrillas. Our forces opened fire killing first the two enemy guards and afterwards an unidentifiable number of others. ALSO ON THE 30th OF APRIL, at 2:20 P.M., the MPLA guerrillas ambushed one lorry and our Jeeps loaded with soldiers between SETE and NINDA posts. The enemy lost 27 (TWENTY -SEVEN), killed, and several others wounded. The lorry was totally destroyed and the Jeeps were seriously damaged. ON THE 13th of MAY, 1967 at 11:00 A.M, near CHALA River, in the region of MUSSUMA POST, a column of Portuguese soldiers, guided by three Angolan traitors, were taken by surprise while taking a rest. In this action the MPLA guerrillas annihilated 18 (EIGHTEEN) enemy soldiers and wounded several others. One of the traitors was wounded and the other two were captured by our guerrillas. FINALLY, ON THE SAME DAY, at 4:30 P.M., a column of eight Portuguese military vehicles was sent to the area where the previous combat had taken place to retrieve the dead and the wounded. As they were returning to their barracks, they were ambushed by another group of MPLA guerrillas. During this action 37 (THIRTY-SEVEN) colonialist troops were killed and many others wounded. A plane coming to assist the enemy bombed the battle field and village. Two MPLA guerrillas and six villages received minor wounds. IN ALL THE PREVIOUS ACTIONS MORE THAN 103 COLONIALIST SOLDIERS WERE KILLED BY THE MPLA GUERRILLAS AND MANY OTHERS WOUNDED. VICTORY OR DEATH! VICTORY IS SURE!
