WAR COMMUNIQUE
EASTERN FRONT

The political-military activity on the northern sector of the Eastern Front of Angola proceeds with growing intensity. The colonialist enemy, too, continues to attack the Angolan people as they seek to withdraw from the Portuguese sphere of influence in order to join the nationalist forces under the MPLA.
On account of this large-scale shift by the population, the burdens of the Portuguese administration are becoming heavier and heavier. The people do not pay taxes and labour is becoming more and more scarce for the colonialists. For this reason, the Portuguese Government is trying to enrol young Angolans into the Colonial army. The effect, however, is merely to encourage further the movement of the population towards the nationalist forces.
On November 21ST,1966, at 3.00pm at KALUNDA post, a convoy of Portuguese military vehicles fell into an ambush os the MPLA freedom forces and left on the battle-field 35 dead and three vehicles destroyed.
On November 22nd,1966, in the same area at 12.00pm, two enemy ‘UMOG’ vehicles fell into an ambush of MPLA guerrillas losing, as a result, 27 soldiers killed.
On November 26Th,1966, at 9.00am, an important military detachment was sent by enemy to the area of KASSOMPO to use force in order to prevent the Angolan people there from leaving the area.
Informed about the presence of the enemy and its intentions, the guerrillas of the MPLA promptly intervened, forcing the Portuguese colonialist forces to flee.
On November 30th,1966, in the early hours of the morning, the freedom forces of MPLA made a big surprise attack on the barracks of KALIPANDE Post, close to the Zambian border. The MPLA fighters set fire to four buildings and destroyed many others. The enemy suffered many soldiers dead and many wounded. Others ran away through the bush.

In all of the above operations the MPLA forces did not have any losses.

VICTORY OR DEATH
VICTORY IS SURE.
