WAR COMMUNIQUE

EASTERN FRONT

Confidently continuing with their missions, our politico-military detachments are intensifying their activities in the MOXICO district, particularly in the LUMBALA region.

ON OCTOBER 17th, 1966, at 06:30am, on the bank of the MUOLOJI river, an enemy patrol which tried to come into LUENA village fell into an ambush carefully prepared by M.P.L.A. guerrillas. The Portuguese suffered (70) SEVENTY soldiers killed and 20 (TWENTY) wounded.

NEXT DAY, ON OCTOBER 18TH, at 10:00am, in SAKAKEYA village two military vehicles with 70 soldiers were ambushed by our guerrillas. The colonialist forces lost 25 (TWENTY FIVE) killed and 10 were wounded.

Some hours later, on the same day, on the bank of the LUMBALA river, 300 colonialist soldiers, marching on foot, fell into an M.P.L.A. ambush, after having burn the MUENA village. As a result of this ambush the enemy lost 35 (THIRTY FIVE) soldiers and 40 (FORTY) were wounded.

FOUR DAYS LATER ON OCTOBER 22ND, a military convoy of Portuguese colonialist troops, petrolling between KAULA and KASUPA, fell into an ambush, as a result of which the enemy lost 38 (THIRTY EIGHT) killed and 18 wounded.

In these operations some guns and material for military equipments were seized by our guerrillas.

During these actions two M.P.L.A. guerrillas were wounded.
