Comunicado de Guerra do MPLA

MOVIMENTO POPULAR DE LIBERTAÇÃO DE ANGOLA M.P.L.A. ZAMBIA REPRESENTATIVE P.O.BOX 1595 PH.82948 LUSAKA WAR COMMUNIQUE EASTERN FRONT ON OCTOBER 21, 1966 at 11.39 am, in the CAZOMBO region, five enemy military lorries fell into an ambush of MPLA guerrillas. EIGHTY ONE (81) portuguese soldiers, including a captain, died during the ensuing rapid combat. All the enemy vehicles were completely destroyed. This operation happened between the ZAMBEZE and LUPENDA rivers. The nationalist forces seized ammunition and several pieces of military equipment. NEW ZONE FIGHT The MPLA detachment which recently garrisoned the extreme Eastern Angola region, have already had their baptism by fire against the Portuguese colonialist forces concentrated there. ON OCTOBER 22ND, 1966, a detachment of our forces attacked the military camp in SETE and also made an ambush upon a part of the enemy forces stationed at the NINDA post. THE result was completely favourable to the MPLA guerrillas which endured only one man gravely wounded. In the next communique we will give the exact number of the enemy losses and other details of these actions. NORTHEN FRONT Since this region has been reinforced with men and material sent by MPLA, the struggle is entering a new phase. The population which had been resisting without military supplies in the forest with great difficulty since about the beginning of the Revolution, in FEBRUARY 1961, is reviving new with new enthusiasm. Entering the struggle again under the direction of MPLA, they are registering consecutive victories. CABINDA FRONT In Cabinda the MPLA nationalist forces completely destroyed the barracks of MASSABI, situated on the Atlantic coast. MASSABI barracks was one of the most important out of the portuguese colonialist army, and this victory of the MPLA guerrillas opens us new perspectives for the development of the struggle in that region of Angola. To try to disguise this defeat, the portuguese government has carried to the UN a ridiculous complaint, alleging that this attack was made by the army of the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville.
