MOVIMENTO POPULAR DE LIBERTAÇÃO DE ANGOLA M.P.L.A. ZAMBIA REPRESENTATIVE P.O.BOX 1595 PH. 82948 LUSAKA WAR COMMUNIQUE EASTERN FRONT During the month of October the military operations of MPLA had great successes in the Moxico district, specially on the recently created SIGAUKE sector, which we announced in our communique No. 8 of October 10th 1966. ON THE 13TH OCTOBER 1966, our sabotage groups destroyed the bridges over the rivers LONDOJE, LUPEMBE, and KAXA, situated in the Karipande and Lumbala areas. ON THE 14TH OCTOBER 1966, at 8. am a vehicle circulating from Karipande to Lumbala and occupied by 13 soldiers fell into an ambush, leaving on the battle field 12 dead and a seriously wounded man named ADELINO. ON THE SAME DAY at 9. am a company of three Mercedes Lerries and a jeep carrying 96 soldiers fell into an ambush prepared by our commands near the river Kaxa. Our guerrillas, utilizing machine-guns, semi-automatic guns and hand grenades, put out of fight 82 enemy soldiers amongst whom were two officers and two sergeants. The remainder were wounded. An important quantity of war material was obtained amongst which were many hand grenades and ammunition, calibre 7,62 made in Belgium. Amongst the MPLA guerrillas there is one gravely wounded.
