MOVIMENTO POPULAR DE LIBERTAÇÃO DE ANGOLA M.P.L.A ZAMBIA REPRESENTATIVE P.O.BOX.1595 - TELEFONE 82948 LUSAKA WAR COMMUNIQUE After the events referred in our Communique Nº 1 of last June, 1966, the colonialist and fascist Portuguese soldiers multiplied themselves in order to localize our forces, which are proceeding with their revolutionary activities. On 18th June 1966, from 6 to 10 o’clock a.m., five planes of FAP (Portuguese Air Force) bombed villages in the area abandoned as a result of the launching of the armed struggle. One day later, on the 19th June 1966, about 6:30 a.m. one Portuguese motorized force, composed of 5 lorries and 2 jeeps, loaded with troops, went to patrol the bombed villages and to liquidate all life still existing there. Informed by the people about that plan our guerrilla fighters armed an ambush against the enemy forces, causing very heavy casualties. Attacked by surprise, the enemy could not react, leaving on the battle field 75 soldiers dead, including five officers. There were no losses in the ranks of M.P.L.A. combatants, and a good number of machine-guns and other military equipment were recovered by our guerrillas. The M.P.L.A. guerrilla force the only one existing in Angola, continues to pursue their objectives. VICTORY OR DEATH On behalf of the Steering Committee Zambia Representative Carimbo de: MPLA ZAMBIA REPRESENTATIVE - LUSAKA Doc. N. 2 30.6.66 Lusaka.
